What we're looking for

With over 60,000 engaged visits a year, Fairburn Ings is a very busy site. We aim to deliver first class customer care at all times as well as giving nature a home. We need passionate and enthusiastic people to support the reserve team in delivering a fantastic visitor experience in the Aire Valley. You will be the first point of call for visitors, providing them with the information that they need to get the most out of their visit. You will be enthusiastic and passionate about the reserve and about the work the RSPB does to look after it. You will actively encourage support for the RSPB through membership, giving people the opportunity to support us.

The skills you need

• To be able to lead and support in the delivery of the site's GREAT welcome system at all times • To advocate a positive 'can-do' membership culture, so that more membership conversations take place, with a higher proportion of those conversations resulting in members of the public joining and greater membership income for the RSPB. • Confidence in maximizing profits for our conservation work via the promotion of offers, products and loyalty card (only applicable on sites with a shop) • An infectious enthusiasm for nature and its conservation • A warm and friendly personality • The confidence to initiate conversations with the public • Able to communicate with visitors from all walks of life with differing knowledge and interest • The ability to listen and respond appropriately • The ability to inspire visitors to give nature a home where they live • Basic computer skills are needed for membership recruitment and operation of the tills • An awareness of Health and Safety
