Work Party Volunteer

Thursday 6 September 2018
Vacancy type:
Practical conservation
Labrador Bay

What we're looking for

Our regular work parties are vital to carry out various habitat management and estate work on our reserves. We would love you to be a part of it! We want help in areas of habitat management and reserve maintenance at Labrador Bay. We have big ideas for our Devon reserves. You can help us make this a reality by improving the hides, signs, paths, gates and stiles, making our reserves brilliant places to visit and enjoy the wildlife. All tasks are crucial for conservation of the site and for retaining good access to, and around the reserve.

The skills you need

If you get a buzz out of being outside in all weathers and love getting a job done, then that's most of what you need! You should be practical and like working with your hands. Being familiar with hand tools would also be a bonus. For this role, you don't need to know about wildlife. We're sure you'll get to know our residents as you go along! You will need an up-to-date tetanus injection and to enjoy working as part of a team.

Your time

1 day a month
All year round

What's in it for you?

This is a great opportunity to help with reserve management, become part of a small team, meet like-minded people, and learn about the running of the reserve. It's also a chance to enjoy the reserve itself! This is an excellent chance to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation, with everyone also enjoying all the things you've done and helped to achieve. This role is increasingly varied and the jobs change weekly depending on what needs doing. One day you might be planting trees, the next fixing a fence. If you like a challenge and want to get involved and gain experience in practical conservation work, this is the role for you!
