What we're looking for

We run regular work parties, usually every other Wednesday, between late summer and winter (July - March) to carry out various habitat management and maintenance work on the reserves, mainly at Nigg Bay and Culbin Sands as well as occasional work parties at our other reserves Loch Ruthven, Fairy Glen and Udale Bay. We are looking for volunteers to help with habitat management and reserve maintenance by joining in with the work party team. All tasks are vital for conservation of the site and for retaining good access to, and around the reserve

The skills you need

Enthusiasm and the ability to get on well with a range of people is essential. An interest in conservation will be helpful. No specialist skills are required but you will need to be reasonably fit and able to to do physical manual work such as cutting vegetation, carrying items and walking over rough ground. You'll also need to cope with being outdoors in locations with minimal or no facilities and will need to make sure you have an up-to-date tetanus injection. As the reserves are spread out you will need to have some means of travelling to the reserve where the work party is taking place. Car sharing with staff leaving Inverness may be possible but cannot be guaranteed.

Your time

Minimum:
1 or 2 Wednesday's a month
Duration:

What's in it for you?

An opportunity to help with reserve maintenance and become part of a small team. You'll learn about the running of the reserve with an opportunity to gain some new skills or just to enjoy the reserve. You'll be making a genuine contribution to the running of the Central Highland Reserves as well as being a vital part of the small reserves team
