What we're looking for

Our “Big Schools Birdwatch” programme gives children and young people the chance to experience birds first-hand through carrying out a survey in their school grounds. Our programme is linked to the National Curriculum and fully risk assessed. You would work with the class teacher to teach the children how to identify common school ground birds and help them record the numbers in a simple tally sheet. They will input their results with their teacher onto the RSPB website. You will provide simple advice on how to help the birds living in their school grounds.

The skills you need

Requirements: You enjoy being outdoors. You have experience working with groups of children and can engage with children of all ages, with diverse needs and learning levels. You have an interest in the natural world. You can transport yourself to the schools. You have access to the internet and can send and respond to email communications.

Your time

1 day per week
Six weeks
7th Jan 2019 - 15th Feb 2019
