What we're looking for

As part of the RSPB's aim to connect as many children as possible to nature, we are getting children out of the classroom and exploring the wildlife in their school grounds. At this important time in the project, we need your help to promote our new offer using innovative ideas to reach out to schools and teachers across Manchester. As a marketing assistant, you will use local media, on-line communication, face to face meetings and networking to encourage more schools to get closer to nature. Develop your skills and knowledge with ongoing training opportunities. Key duties and responsibilities - Identify opportunities for marketing - Produce promotional video - Compose press releases and articles - Deliver face to face promotion in schools - Regularly check and respond to emails - Assist with data collection, feedback and evaluation - Attend initial induction and training and participate in occasional skills development opportunities

The skills you need

Essential: • An interest and basic understanding of marketing principles • Good standard of spoken and written English • Able to use initiative and bring new ideas • Relationship building skills • Well organised, great communicator • Ability to work independently and represent the RSPB in a professional manner • Computer literacy • Able to travel to schools around Manchester (particularly city centre) It would be desirable (though not essential) if you also have the following: • Experience of working with children • Experience of working in or with schools

Before starting in role we'd ask you to attend: an induction to the RSPB, it's vision and ways of working; an induction to the role. We'd also offer safeguarding and health & safety training. We'd reimburse any out-of-pocket travel expenses, provide you with RSPB uniform and name badge, and of course give you ongoing support in your role.
