What we're looking for

We aim to create a world richer in nature. We have plans to engage people in taking big and small steps to support wildlife. To achieve this, we want to develop our social media presence, to inspire and engage a broad range of audiences about nature in Shetland. We need a new volunteer to manage our Facebook page so that it is regularly updated and activity on the page frequently monitored. You will create and promote content, respond to messages and act as an ambassador for the RSPB. This role can be undertaken at home or an RSPB office. You might be based in Shetland but this could be done anywhere with access to the internet.

The skills you need

You'll need to know about and use social media frequently but don't need to be an expert. You need to be reactive, flexible, happy to work with others and open minded to creative ideas. You need to have the skills and temperament to be an ambassador for the RSPB. If you have a creative or artistic flair then even better!

Your time

1 minute - 1 day per month, variable and flexible
Throughout the year

What's in it for you?

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in inspiring people about nature and RSPB Scotland's work in Shetland and be at the forefront of creative and innovative solutions to help Save Nature. This is an excellent chance to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation through helping to grow an interactive online community that cares about nature and wants to protect it. The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity. We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work. You will be part of the Shetland team who will support you and provide you with guidance, updates and ideas. We will also encourage you to get out and about on nature reserves and other local places of interest in search of inspiration. If you're the kind of person who would like to volunteer but think you don't have time then this could be perfect for you. You can use and improve your social media skills from the comfort of your own home. Whether you'd like to help us protect wildlife in Shetland, get Europe's largest conservation organisation on your CV or develop your communication skills, this role may be for you.
