What we're looking for

With 50,000 visitors a year, Middleton Lakes is a very busy site which is increasing in visitor numbers year on year. We aim to deliver first class visitor care at all times as well as giving an outstanding home to nature. We are looking for someone to provide a warm welcome to all our visitors, providing them with the information they need to make the most of their visit. You will actively thank members for their support and ensure that visitor needs are understood and met to the best of your abilities. You will be based at our small wooden welcome building called the Welcome Hub. You will be happy to work on your own or with another workforce team member or a Membership fundraiser. You will be required to open and or close the Hub as well as keeping the space clean and tidy. At the Welcome Hub you will be selling light refreshments, pin badges, activity packs and talking to visitors about membership. It is important that you can inspire people about the work we do and warm them up to the idea of membership.

You may be looking for a way of putting something back or have knowledge you want to put to good use for a great cause. Being part of our workforce means:- • An opportunity to work at a unique wildlife reserve learning more about nature, birds and wildlife whilst making a real difference to the work of the RSPB. • An induction to the reserve and the role • Induction to the RSPB and ways of working • Training in relevant equipment and systems • The opportunity to be part of a small, supportive and very enthusiastic team • The opportunity to take pride in your local nature reserve • Regular communication with the team • Opportunities to use your skills and develop new ones • An RSPB uniform and name badge • References if appropriate
