You'll gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and learn how one of Europe's largest conservation charities is run. You'll also get:
Excellent all-round experience of working on a RSPB nature reserve.
Qualifications in the use of machinery and power tools such as brushcutter, 4x4 and pesticide application (depending on seasonal needs).
Training such as membership recruitment, social media, safeguarding, people engagement, Health and Safety including risk assessment and specialist in-house computer applications e.g.. Merlin.
An insider knowledge of the RSPB and conservation issues.
A chance to network with regional staff and explore possible career paths, both conservation and visitor related, including access to the internal job vacancies.
Experience of working in a team, leading other volunteers, and planning workdays.
Our internships are designed to offer work experience. However, doing an internship does not, unfortunately, guarantee future employment with the RSPB. Interns are welcome to apply for our paid vacancies, but for obvious reasons, an intern would need to have proven themselves in their current role before their volunteering experience will assist an application for a paid post.
