Reserve Caretaker

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to ensure our visitors have a great experience. We need help with the smooth running of our reserve, with opening, closing and cleaning facilities.

What we're looking for

At RSPB Marshside, part of the amazing Ribble Estuary NNR, a top site for wetland bird species, we aim to deliver first class customer care for our visitors, as well as providing an outstanding home for wildlife. The reserve's car park and Visitor Centre are open 365 days, welcoming around 40,000 visitors each year. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support our work with a range of practical tasks such as opening/locking the car park, Visitor Centre and hide, refilling hand sanitisers and checking Covid19 secure facilities and signage, cleaning and caring for the reserve's infrastructure (Portaloo, windows, viewing screens and signage), tidying outdoor visitor areas, e.g.g litter picking), updating noticeboards, and reporting any significant issues promptly to staff.

The skills you need

•An ability to work independently, to follow instructions but also to use your initiative •Good attention to detail (house-proud) and happy to take on routine tasks •An awareness of Health and Safety •A good level of physical fitness •Approachable and friendly
