Visitor Engagement Volunteer – Outdoors

What we're looking for

Here at Lochwinnoch we welcome 30,000 people to the reserve each year and the summer months unsurprisingly are our busiest period. We want all our visitors to have as positive an experience as possible when visiting the reserve and your enthusiasm can help make this happen. We are looking for volunteers that can enhance the enjoyment of RSPB Lochwinnoch for all visitors, from all user groups, of all ages and all levels of experience/knowledge of nature, using positive face-to-face engagement with visitors. This role is suitable for individuals or couples. You must be willing to spend time out on site, wandering the trails, talking to all types of visitors. Providing assistance and encouragement to visitors less experienced in bird and wildlife watching, as well as engaging with more experienced visitors to discuss their findings and share information. Where appropriate and safe, to deal with any misuse of the site by members of the public and provide guidance in proper use to visitors. Monitor site for any issues and report them to staff. Encouraging visitors to offer their feedback. RSPB membership really is the lifeblood of the Society and underpins every single thing we do. It helps us fund nature conservation work here and across the UK - not only the ongoing land management of our reserves but also by creating and enhancing magnificent wild spaces for nature and people to enjoy. It is therefore important that you can inspire people about the work we do and warm them up to the idea of membership.
