Be the early warning reporter of moorland fires to the Fire Service and the RSPB at Dove Stone by patrolling areas of the reserve looking out for smoke

What we're looking for

Spending time in remote locations around the reserve looking out for smoke and fire. Calling the fire service using map and gps or what3words app to determine location of fire. Calling the RSPB as above. We DO NOT require the volunteers to fight a fire.

The skills you need

Ability to drive safely and legally on the roads. Willingness to work as a pair. Ability to use a mobile phone (preferably a smartphone which will host what3words app). Willingness to abide by the risk assessment

Your time

Minimum:
8 hours per month
Duration:
Feb to Sept every year, depending on fire risk
Period:
February to September
