What we're looking for

RSPB Wild Challenge is an online resource that provides a range of hands-on nature-based activities to encourage families and schools to connect to and help nature in their own back gardens and local green spaces. At RSPB we know that young people are a key stakeholder to drive our mission to address the climate and nature emergency we face. We wish to support and empower young people and families, to bring about the nature-positive future that they hope for. We wish to save nature through our young people and families, and the Education, Families and Youth team's core aim is to facilitate this. So…Do you love the natural world and want to share it with others? • Seek out opportunities/ locations in which to promote Wild Challenge • Provide advice to those wishing to take part in Wild Challenge • Demonstrate activities • Ensure safeguarding measures, consent and data protection measures are in place • Build and develop a network of contacts to promote Wild Challenge activities • Produce promotional content in keeping with the RSPBs brand

The skills you need

We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to take on the role of RSPB Wild Challenge Ambassadors who will be responsible for promoting the Wild Challenge resource through live activity demonstrations and support. The following skills would be useful: • The confidence and ability to lead or facilitate a fun and active day's education programme both in the field and the classroom with a group of young people and their staff. • A keen interest in wildlife, conservation and the environment, but no expertise required! • An enthusiasm for outdoor education and a willingness to learn new skills. • A resourceful and flexible approach to be able to cope with a wide variety of ages and abilities a group. • Abundant enthusiasm and excellent communication skills. • Ability to communicate effectively with children of differing needs and levels of understanding. • Able to work as part of a busy team and independently as required • Good organisation skills. • Computer literacy - ability to use e-mail, internet, word processing and access online training. Additional desirable skills: • Out of classroom teaching experience would be an advantage • Some ecological knowledge of habitat types would be an advantage
