What we're looking for

We are starting to run bicycle hire on the Exe Estuary reserves. With increased public interest in the natural environment, health and wellbeing, this is a good time to explore how we encourage people outdoors and into nature. Our Exe Estuary nature reserves are linked by the flat NCN cycle route 2 which provides a pleasant, well-surfaced and mainly off-road link between Exminster Marshes, Matford Marsh, Bowling Green Marsh and Goosemoor. Awareness of the impacts of climate change is growing and the number of people who want to use green transport to explore their local area is increasing. We require a dedicated and organised individual, who is prepared to take ownership of the whole bicycle tour and hire operation project. This will require an initial investment of time to fine tune the details of how this can work successfully and then will need an ongoing commitment to have oversight of the operation. We can work together to recruit more volunteers to help support the operation as needed, including maintenance and tour leaders.

The skills you need

- Familiar with bicycle maintenance - Excellent communicator - Good with people - Organised and resourceful - Self-motivated - Committed -You do not need to be a wildlife expert, but it would be great if you have a keen interest in nature.

Your time

5 hours/fortnight, but may increase with success of operation.
All year round

What's in it for you?

The opportunity to be an integral part of a friendly, growing and dynamic team who are committed to making a difference for nature. We have big plans to grow our visitor work which you can play a part in and help to shape. You will have the opportunity to learn more about how nature reserves, events and operations run and learn more about wildlife and the RSPB's work to save nature. All of this, whilst taking in the beauty of the RSPB's Exminster and Powderham nature reserves.
