What we're looking for

The RSPB is partnering with idverde, the UK's largest grounds maintenance company, in Charnwood, Northampton and Telford. The aim of this partnership is to offer advice and support to help conserve biodiversity in parks and urban green spaces managed by idverde on behalf of council clients. To help wildlife in our green spaces, we need to know which species are present. This is why we have a team of biodiversity surveyors, recording wildlife in urban green spaces such as woodlands, wetlands, grasslands, parks, pitches and recreational sites. You will help to coordinate the Volunteer Biodiversity Surveyors, by liaising with the RSPB volunteering team and our partners, idverde, the council's and other local contacts. You will act as the point of contact for volunteer surveyors with support from an RSPB /idverde representative for the area. You will help induct new volunteers and help get them started in their role, as well as offer ongoing support to those new and existing volunteers in the three areas the RPSB/idverde partnership is active.

The skills you need

Good people skills, good organisational and communication skills, an ability to lead/inspire others and work as part of a team. Tact and diplomacy are also an advantage along with a proactive attitude. You will need basic computer skills. Beneficial but not essential: An enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, birds and other wildlife. Experience of working with volunteers and / or managing people.

Your time

1 day per week
All year round
