Vacancy type:
Practical conservation
South and West Scotland Regional Office

What we're looking for

As a practical conservation volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team to install a variety of nature solutions within the garden (e.g. wildflower meadow, rain garden, green walls and roofs) and learn about the benefits of green infrastructure and sustainable town planning. You will develop the knowledge and skills to create lasting positive changes to green spaces whilst empowering people from communities all across the city to take action for nature and climate.

The skills you need

You'll need to be a good team player and happy to work outdoors during the unpredictable Scottish weather! Practical conservation tasks can be physically tiring, so as well as being up for the task you should have lots of energy and enthusiasm!

Your time

1 half day per week
3 months
September to 12th November 2021

What's in it for you?

This is a great opportunity to work on an exciting project that addresses the biodiversity loss crisis and climate emergency at a pivotal point in our lifetimes. We will support you in developing practical conservation skills as well as a wider appreciation and awareness of local, national and global actions to mitigate the effects of the nature and climate crisis we are experiencing. Nature is the solution, and it's not too late to Revive Our World. By meeting new people whilst working outdoors on this project, we hope to excite and inspire you in your passion for nature, whilst you work within a fun and creative environment!

How to apply

All the training necessary and background information will be provided and since you'll be giving up your time, it's only fair that we offer to re-imburse your travel expenses (up to 25 miles). You'll need some warm and waterproof clothing (we can support with this if needed), comfortable outdoor footwear plus plenty to drink. The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. We rely upon memberships and donations to fund our work. By volunteering your time and skills, you could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB. Nature is amazing – help us keep it that way.
