Making the Skydancer computer game
Students at Northumbria University have developed a brand new computer game starring our sky dancing hen harriers!
Making the game
In January 2013, Skydancer teamed up with Northumbria University to run the first ever hen harrier-themed “Game Jam” competition.
It was an exciting weekend where teams of undergraduate computing students were given just 75 hours to create a demo computer game from a brief to inspire young people about hen harriers.
In total, 22 students took part and prizes were awarded for Technical Achievement, Aesthetic Design, and overall Game Design.
Selected from each of the winning teams, students Dean Astley, John Snowdon, Shaun Kavanagh, Matthew Gilmore, and Siddhartha Mandaiker joined forces after the competition to create a fully-working Skydancer computer game.
Created voluntarily alongside their studies, the game is all their own original work and a lot of fun to play!
