Connecting people with nature

Accessing nature in both urban and rural settings can be a challenge. Thanks to grants from the National Lottery Communities Fund, whether people live in busy cities or in remote countryside locations, we can bring nature to their doorsteps.

Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff

In partnership with the City of Cardiff Council and Buglife Cymru, Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff is helping thousands of young people, families and communities to spend more time with nature in the Welsh capital.

Since 2014, the project has delivered nature sessions to 87% of primary schools in Cardiff. The team has also focussed on several schools which have no green space within their school grounds, by running nature workshops in parks and other green spaces. So far, the project has provided 5,428 connections to nature for children in primary schools and early years settings, while launching over 100 events for families in Cardiff's parks.
