We cannot treat nature and climate crises as separate issues

Monday 14 June 2021

IPCC and IPBES scientists released their first joint report.

RSPB principle climate policy officer Mel Coath said: “Today’s groundbreaking report highlights that the nature and climate emergencies must be tackled together. Yet for too long they have been dealt with in political silos; even the UN holds two separate negotiations. Since the pandemic people have connected with the wildlife on their doorsteps like never before and the dangers of destroying nature have never been clearer. The UK government must not miss its chance to step up as a world leader to connect these crises ahead of the COP26 climate summit it is hosting this year, restore our precious natural riches and revive our world.”
