Cafe

Our large, warm and friendly café sits within a converted barn. We are proud to have been designated a 'Green Tourism' and 'Taste Lancashire' site. A wide selection of delicious, home-cooked meals are available daily.

We pride ourselves on sourcing high-quality, fresh, local produce, which is organic and Fairtrade wherever possible. Try our tempting selection of locally-baked cakes made exclusively for us by Anne Hawley with a pot of refreshing Fairtrade tea.

We serve our own exclusive coffee that is grown, imported and roasted by us. It's Fairtrade, organic and certified bird-friendly by the Smithsonian Institute, so now you can help save nature simply by enjoying a great cup of coffee! Takeaways, cold drinks and ice creams are available.

All our profits go back into our conservation work, so that extra helping of cake is really helping!

Opening hours

We're open from 9.30 am to 5 pm (closing at 4.30 pm in December and January)

Highlights from our menu

  • Anne Hawley's amazing lemon drizzle cake - just one of a mouthwatering selection
  • Full English and vegetarian breakfasts and morning buns, including Burrows' smoked bacon and local free-range eggs served up to 11.30 am
  • Home-made soup and sandwiches freshly-made using delicious local ingredients
  • Wildlife Explorers' adventure meal including a sandwich, dried fruit, juice, biscuit and RSPB gift

We always make a point of calling in at Leighton Moss on our way down from Scotland, not only for the fantastic wildlife, but to have lunch in this outstanding café

Joan and Peter, Isle of Mull

Access to the cafe

Our cafe is on the first floor. There is currently a stairlift on the back staircase, with an accessible wheelchair at the top, for people with mobility issues.

Children welcome

We have highchairs available for young children, and a small children’s area with books and colouring sheets. Our 'Fledglings' menu offers little portions for little eaters.

We use local ingredients

Our daily specials board offers seasonal, local and regional dishes, using Fairtrade, organic and local ingredients where possible.
