How to get here

By bike

A Sustrans route runs through Aberfoyle.

By road

From Aberfoyle, follow the B829 sign posted to Inversnaid. After 12 miles (19 km) on single track, turn left at a T-junction. Garrison Farm is on the right before you reach the Inversnaid bunkhouse. To access the other section of the reserve, continue down the hill to the Inversnaid Hotel and car park and then follow the West Highland Way.

Other ways to get there

The reserve can be accessed by foot along the West Highland Way from both north and south. Cruise Loch Lomond runs at least three cruises a day from Tarbet to Inversnaid during high season. A waterbus timetable is also available.

Nature trails access
  • Four trails, all rocky, many changes in gradient and can become slippy and muddy.
  • The woodland trail has three benches (without back or arm rests) along the route. It has over 400 steps and can become slippery and muddy.
Viewing points

The woodland trail to the viewpoint rises steeply.

Dogs
  • RSPB Scotland welcomes responsible access, in line with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
  • During the ground-nesting bird breeding season (1 April to 15 August) and in areas with livestock we would ask that you keep your dog close to you, preferably on a short lead and please clean up after your dog.
