How to get here

By train

Silverdale station is on the Manchester Airport/Preston to Barrow line and is only 250 metres from the reserve. Turn left out of the station entrance, then left again and then right.

By bike

National Cycle Route 6, Regional route 90 (Lancashire Cycleway).

By road

Leighton Moss is near the village of Silverdale, just 3km (2 miles) from Carnforth and is signposted from the A6 north of M6 junction 35.

  • The lower trail has a gate at one end.

  • Viewing slots can be heavy to open.

  • 16 stairs with handrails and a rear set of stairs with a stair lift.

12 picnic tables with wheelchair spaces.

Dogs
  • Registered Assistance Dogs welcome.
  • Other dogs are allowed in the car parks, along the Causeway, which is a public footpath and bridleway, and on designated path. However, dogs are not allowed on the main reserve footpaths

  • Situated on the ground floor with level entry.
  • Flexible layouts in both.
  • Short pile carpet.
  • Outdoor classroom has wooden floors with non slip coating.
  • Good lighting.
  • No lighting to the outdoor classroom.
  • Large print displays viewed from a seated/child’s eye position.

The shop is level entry, no doors from the visitor centre. Step free, level access throughout. Non-slip tiled flooring. Ample room. Good lighting. A magnifying glass, pen and paper are available. Some goods maybe difficult to reach. Staff available to assist.
