Discover wildlife friendly Christmas treats at RSPB Leighton Moss

Monday 12 December 2016

With the countdown to Christmas under way, now is the perfect time to indulge in a wildlife friendly Christmas at RSPB Leighton Moss in Silverdale.

Throughout December, families can take part in the free 'Creatures of Christmas' quiz trail to discover more about the wonderful wildlife that calls the reserve home in winter. Wildlife Explorer backpacks are also available to hire every day, to help little nature detectives uncover the natural world around them using bug pots, binoculars and more. Cost £2.50.

Francesca Currie, Visitor Experience Manager at Leighton Moss said: "December is a great month to get outdoors with your family and discover the wonders of nature at Leighton Moss. Not only can visitors come and experience fantastic winter wildlife, like playful otters and magnificent marsh harriers but they can get their Christmas shopping done at the same time! We've got a wide selection of gifts and everything you need to help your garden wildlife survive the coldest months. Our staff and volunteers are always on hand to provide advice on the many ways you can help give nature a home where you live."

Francesca added: "Leighton Moss is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the festive season away from the hustle and bustle. After a stroll around the nature reserve you can also pop into our warm and welcoming cafe to refuel with a hot drink and tasty treat."

RSPB Leighton Moss is open every day except Christmas Day. For more information on events, wildlife spectacles and seasonal opening times, visit rspb.org.uk/leightonmoss
