About

Bolton Ings is part of our Dearne Valley network of reserves, sitting just across the river from the main reserve – Old Moor. A brilliant Barnsley bird watching spot. Explore the nearby paths and trails for views across the main pool and reedbeds.

Down the Trans Pennine Trail from Old Moor and after a short walk, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views from the railway line – or warbler way, as it’s known locally – and the public hides. The Dearne Way footpath and Trans Pennine Trail give walkers a chance of spotting fascinating new wildlife in the area, like Spoonbills. There’s lots going on at Bolton Ings, so watch this space.
