What we're looking for

On this internationally important reserve your help and time will play an essential part in delivering the work programme and implementing the reserve management plan so that the reserve is managed to its full potential.

The skills you need

You need to be at least 18 years old and able to stay for at least two weeks. An enthusiastic approach to work, interest in conservation, ability to work as part of a team. The work may be strenuous and you must be prepared to be outside in all weathers. Excellent people skills; friendly, relaxed and able to engage with visitors would also be beneficial as weekend work revolves around helping visitors and assisting in the reception centre.

What's in it for you?

You will be a part of the conservation team so you will play an active role in the practical management and running of this busy nature reserve. The daily work can range from hide building, boardwalk construction and path maintenance, to site patrols and litter picking. You will also be able to assist with research, carry out surveys and monitor species protection if these are ongoing during your stay. During your time on the reserve you will be given training as appropriate. You will also gain an insight into the workings of Europe's Largest conservation charity and the role the RSPB plays internationally as the UK partner of the global federation of conservation organizations, Birdlife International.
