What to expect
Old Moor near Barnsley in South Yorkshire, is a 250 acre site in the Dearne Valley that was developed out of Europe's largest former railway sidings serving the local coal industry. Now fully restored to its natural beauty, it is an important wetland site for wildlife including the elusive Bittern. The reserve is important for waterfowl and waders, farmland birds and other wildlife. It is also an important resource for the local community with over 100,000 visitors a year and a strong educational link with local primary schools. There is a visitor centre with a well-stocked shop selling birdcare products, and a restaurant selling a range of hot and cold food including vegetarian options, all sourced locally wherever possible to reduce transport miles and support the local economy. The Farmhouse Meeting Rooms offer high quality conference and meeting facilities which can be hired at competitive rates. Combining meetings/training with a team challenge activity delivers a really special event.
