Location:
Carsington Water RSPB Shop

What we're looking for

The RSPB shop at Severn Trent Water's Carsington Water opened for the first time in 2009 and our customer base is growing all the time. As well as gift items and bird care the shop is also becoming known for stocking a wide range of high quality optical equipment. Each month, (except July and August) we hold a demonstration weekend, giving visitors the chance to spend some time with staff and volunteers to choose the right product for them. As optics advisor you will be a valued member of our sales team and be available to work the full optics weekend (dates planned well in advance) to advise cistomers and close sales.

The skills you need

We are looking for someone with an outgoing personality, excellent communication and sales skills and an ability to help and advise members of the public. Ideally, you will have some experience of using telescopes and binoculars or be quick to learn about our products in this range. An enthusiasm for birds and other wildlife would be a help as a lot of our customers will be using their equipment for wildlife watching.

Your time

Minimum:
1 weekend per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

Working in a retail environment is one of the most sociable and rewarding atmospheres in which you can volunteer, meeting and helping a large amount of visitors. You will be part of a professional and friendly team of staff and volunteers, with all the profits from your sales going directly to conservation at home and abroad.
