What we're looking for

At Fairburn Ings we already have a small garden area, which of course needs regular maintenance. The garden is a great source of inspiration for our visitors to take ideas home to create a home for nature in their own gardens. We also want to extend this with more large planters and to generally create an attractive and inspiring welcome for visitors. visitors. We are looking to build our team of friendly and approachable gardeners who will work together to make our wildlife garden even better.

The skills you need

We are looking for people who have a keen interest in gardening and wildlife. Guidance on gardening techniques will be provided as well as use of gardening tools, so all you needs is a willingness to muck in. You will need to be reasonably fit for this volunteer opportunity but there will be tasks to suit a variety of skills, interests and abilities (if you have concerns about this element of the role please contact us). If you have a creative, positive attitude and willingness to share new ideas with visitors that'd be great too.

Ongoing support will be provided and travel expenses can be reimbursed if needed. The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. By volunteering your time and skills could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB. We are looking for people who can ideally volunteer one or two days a month each.
