What we're looking for

RSPB Ham Wall in the Avalon Marshes in Somerset is an amazing wetlands environment now famous for its booming bitterns, stunning starlings and dazzling dragonflies. We are looking for someone to share their enthusiasm and knowledge in the Avalon Marshes when local students visit to learn about the natural world and environmental issues. Our popular Schools on Reserves Programme runs a range of engaging sessions for Primary and Secondary school students, from Early Years to A Level. As a Schools on Reserves volunteer your role will be to support and eventually lead the taught sessions that we offer on the reserve at Ham Wall and on Shapwick Heath in partnership with Natural England.

The skills you need

Confidence to engage with young people Good communication skills Ability to plan, organise and adapt Good time management Willingness to undertake the necessary training for the role, including Safeguarding, First Aid and GDPR. We will give you support to complete this.

Your time
