RSPB membership really is the lifeblood of the Society and underpins every single thing we do. It helps us fund nature conservation work here and across the UK, helping us to save nature. Hours and days are organised on a rota with typically 2 half days per month (minimum). In addition your support would be particularly appreciated when we are busy i.e.. school holidays and when we have events running).

The skills you need

You'll need to have the confidence to strike up conversations with visitors as well as have a passion for engaging with people, including families and children. An enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation is important, but you do not need to be really knowledgeable as we will support you in increasing your knowledge. Importantly, you'll need have a professional and friendly approach to meeting visitors. You should be willing to learn about the RSPB, attend training and develop your skills about recruiting new members to the RSPB. You will also need to be comfortable encouraging people to join, and have a reasonable level of IT literacy to use our systems. Training will be provided, as appropriate.
