What we're looking for

Mersehead is a very busy site and we aim to deliver an exciting visitor experience at all times as well as providing an outstanding home for wildlife. The nature reserve hosts any school visits during term time and a programme of family events at other times. Our professional Visitors experience Team deliver exciting outdoor learning activities throughout the year and are looking for a volunteer to support our work by meeting and enthusing members of the public in the Visitor Centre, you will also help with practical, behind the scenes tasks.

The skills you need

Along with the confidence to strike up conversations with strangers, a desire to help, an enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation is desirable, but most important of all, you'll need a friendly demeanour and a ready smile! You will also need to be comfortable working in an indoor and an outdoor environment as well as being able to work independently and to use your own initiative at times. You'll need to enjoy working alongside children and families and be able to make their experience an exciting and worthwhile one. The capability to use office equipment is desirable and some awareness of health and safety.
