What we're looking for

The Exeter & District Local Group are looking for an enthusiastic individual to help play a vital role within the Group on a local level! This volunteer-led group of dedicated and passionate individuals are key to supporting and representing the RSPB locally and being ambassadors, through a mixture of inspiring talks, guided walks and trips, and other events. This volunteer-led group has been running for over 40 years, providing a focal point to meet friendly and like-minded people in Exeter and surrounding areas, whilst learning more about birds and wildlife, and having fun along the way! For the smooth running of the group we have regular committee meetings, normally every other month, and an Annual General Meeting in October. We need someone to be part of our team to take minutes of the meetings. Before each meeting, you should liaise with the group leader to ensure that all invitees are informed about the meeting agenda and other relevant information. Shortly after each meeting, you should circulate a draft copy of the minutes, then apply any corrections and finalise them in good time for the following meeting.

The skills you need

You need to be a good listener and be able to accurately and succinctly record minutes of meetings, highlighting any actions and decisions. You also need to be computer literate and a good communicator. You don't need any bird or wildlife knowledge for this role. In fact, if you want to learn more, then joining us is the best way!

Your time

Minimum:
4-6 hours per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year round

What's in it for you?

You will get to play a much-valued part in the small friendly team that forms the committee. As part of the local group, you will be amongst like-minded friends with a common interest in learning more about our fantastic wildlife and supporting the RSPB. You will have the opportunity to take part, and help, in the wide range of activities we offer. New ideas, skills and talents are always very welcome! Those activities include indoor meetings with talks, outdoor walks and trips, and other social and fund-raising events, organised by other members of the committee. Notes

Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary. The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. We rely upon memberships and donations to fund our work. By volunteering your time and skills, you could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB. Nature is amazing – help us keep it that way.
