What we're looking for
RSPB local groups are community based groups, run entirely by volunteers, that promote the aims and objectives of the RSPB in the local community. They offer RSPB members and the public the opportunity to become involved in, learn about and assist the organisation in its work to save nature. They run events and activities like indoor talks and outdoor walks/wildlife watching trips. They also fundraise and campaign for the RSPB and attend local community events to further enthuse and inspire people to support the RSPB. Tonbridge local group would like to engage more with the public at local events eg, raise awareness of RSPB, inspire more people about nature and wildlife etc. You would: identify events such as village fêtes where we could raise funds and raise awareness. contact venues such as garden centres where we could have a presence in connection with national events such as the Big Garden Birdwatch RSPB.org.uk/bgbw organise participation, including a rota of helpers, materials and props, setting up and clearing down. liaise with Tonbridge local group and the South East Regional Office to ensure activities are coordinated with other events taking place.
