Vacancy type:
Office and administration, Publicity and promotional
Location:

What we're looking for

Looking for a role in a busy, friendly communications team? Great – 'cos we really need you! You'll help us deliver communications that inform, engage and inspire our staff about the RSPB, our work for nature and our plans for the future. You'll provide essential support such as: • monitoring and handling emails that come into our internal comms inbox • helping research stories and, on occasion, writing articles • editing and uploading content to our intranet • helping arrange internal events, such as roadshows involving senior staff, at locations across the RSPB (you won't be expected to travel to attend these). You'll also take the lead on: • coordinating and promoting our schedule of internal 'spotlight talks', liaising with speakers and administrators from across the organisation • managing our 'position statements' online library (guidance for staff on our stance on specific topics) – including the review and updating process. We're looking for someone who can commit to volunteering in the team for around 15 hours per week, but if you'd like to give more time that's great! Depending on how many hours you're able to give, we'll work with you to refine the tasks and agree a work pattern that suits you – we're flexible on how you spread your hours during the week.

The skills you need

• An eye for detail, but can also see the big picture • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – confident communicating with, and writing for, a variety of audiences • Good organisational skills and able to prioritise work. • Happy working independently and as part of a team • Computer literate, with experience of Microsoft Office 2016 - including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Able to deal sensitively with confidential information

Your time

Minimum:
Around 15 hours per week
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
As soon as possible

What's in it for you?

The RSPB is the UK's largest nature conservation organisation – we're committed to saving nature. You'll be joining us at a critical time, as the RSPB plans and adapts for the future – and communications has a key role to play. We'll provide you with the support you need to do a great job – whether that means helping develop new skills and/or shake the dust off some old ones! We might learn some stuff from you too! You'll be part of a friendly team that's committed to improving communications at the RSPB. Liaising with colleagues from across the RSPB is key to this diverse role – so you'll also meet and get to work with lots of people from different teams, covering a wide range of the RSPB's work. You'll be based at the beautiful Lodge reserve, with nature and wonderful walks on your office doorstep!
