Event Volunteer - Aire Valley

This is a flexible role suitable for people who want to volunteer, but can't make a regular commitment. You will help us run events smoothly and ensure attendees have a great time.

What we're looking for

We need volunteers to provide support for an exciting and evolving event programme in the Aire Valley. This flexible role includes a wide range of opportunities, working with diverse audiences - perfect for someone who wants to get stuck in, but is unable to make a regular commitment. You will support and in some cases lead, activities such as pond dipping, bug safaris, various nature walks and trails. Support larger events e.g. fun runs, Big Wild Sleep Out, festivals and concerts. Help us ensure that events run smoothly, and that all attendees have a fantastic time.

The skills you need

This role will suit someone who loves to work in a team, meet and talk to people, undertake practical tasks, and spend time outdoors. We're especially looking for: Friendly, enthusiastic people who are happy to strike up conversations with strangers Experience of, or interest in, working in events and activities Flexibility and adaptability A willingness to work outdoors, and to support a variety of activities An interest in the RSPB and its work, and an enthusiasm for sharing this with people

You will need to undertake an induction to the Aire Valley, some online training, usually from home and be able to access a comprehensive development programme run for our volunteers. You will be allocated a line manager and have support and regular opportunities to discuss your role with this person. You will be given a uniform, provided with the resources you need to undertake your role and can claim expenses for your travel to and from your volunteer shifts.
