Vacancy type:

Location:

What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us when out and about in the community, spreading the word about the fantastic Dee Estuary reserve and helping us with membership recruitment. Supporting staff attending events at all sorts of locations from coasts to country parks, you'll be engaging with the public, inspiring them with the wildlife spectacles around you and encouraging their support for the charity. You'll gain loads of experience working with people, including children and get to see fundraising in action! The RSPB relies on new and continued support from members of the public to support our conservation work. We need you to help us attend events in the local area and share your passion for the amazing conservation work the RSPB is doing and how we can all help save nature. We need volunteers to support staff to engage with families, inspiring the next generation of nature lovers, and physical support such as putting up a gazebo and display tables.

The skills you need

You'll be friendly and outgoing, confident to initiate conversations with the public and able to inspire them with your enthusiasm for nature and your desire to help protect it. You'll be comfortable standing up for long periods of time and able to help put up and take down a gazebo. Experience working with young people and families would be useful to support small craft activities. This role requires working alone for periods of time e.g. to cover lunches and being outside in all weathers. Living in the area or being able to travel to and around the area would also be useful.

Your time

Minimum:
1 day per month
Duration:
Ongoing
Period:
All year around

What's in it for you?

It's a great opportunity to get out and about in your local area, going to interesting venues and there's plenty of opportunities to see wildlife spectacles. Working with the largest nature conservation charity in the UK, this opportunity will help you gain insight into the work we do, gaining lots of experience working in a customer facing role and engaging with the public, including young people. Most of all you'll have the knowledge that you're supporting your local nature reserve, promoting the area's amazing wildlife and helping gather more voices for nature!
