What we're looking for

Join our swift box installation team as part of our Greater Manchester Swift project and help make a real difference to the nesting success of this national priority species in the North West of England. Some home owners will be able to install their own boxes but many will not feel confident enough to do so and without a team of box putter uppers, we will not reach the potential of this project. Volunteers need to be confident working at heights and will put up boxes and the swift call attraction system. Volunteers will work in teams of 2

The skills you need

You need to be confident working at heights, using ladders and be competent at basic DIY – drilling holes and screwing the boxes and sound system to properties. You should have knowledge of the risks of working at heights and be able to assess whether access to properties is safe to attempt.

Your time

Minimum:
one or part of one day a week between March and July
Duration:
Initially 2019
Period:
March to July

What's in it for you?

You will be part of a small team, making a real direct and calculable difference to a remarkable and much-loved summer visitor. You will learn a lot about this amazing species and will have the satisfaction of actually seeing the fruits of your labour.
