What we're looking for

We are looking for teams of 4-6 volunteers to commit to attending 1 event per quarter, typically at weekends, to build up a regular fundraising presence for the RSPB NI in your local area. You will be part of a wider fundraising network helping to raise funds to support RSPB NI's ongoing conservation work.

The skills you need

You will be well organised, have a positive and approachable manner and feel confident engaging the public in conversation. No prior knowledge of the RSPB or its work is required but would be beneficial. Training will be provided to volunteers to learn about our nature saving work.

Your time

1 event per quarter
All year

What's in it for you?

You will have the opportunity to work with other passionate fundraising volunteers and staff at exciting events in your local area, meet new people and support the RSPB in its mission to save nature. You will each gain skills in planning collections, volunteering for a national charity and the opportunity to talk to members of the public about the RSPB's work. Full training will be provided for your team and any expenses incurred whilst volunteering will be reimbursed.

You will need to liaise directly with the community fundraiser to secure materials required to carry out the role and one of you will need to be responsible for banking any funds raised after each collection. You will be provided with all necessary material including buckets, lapel stickers, branded t-shirts, ID badges and a small marquee. You will need to be able to erect and take down the stand and marquee safely. Having access to a car and somewhere to store the kit would be advantageous. Like nature, our survival depends on diversity. Nature has no borders and neither do we. We believe that nature is everybody's right and being an equal, diverse organisation is the right thing to do to find solutions to our common challenges. We recognise the value of difference and want all volunteers to feel welcome, included and able to be themselves. We want to better reflect the communities in which we work so particularly welcome more volunteer applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and people under 25. We have a good representation from people with disabilities amongst our volunteers and are open to discussion about any adjustments you may need or want to volunteer.
