What we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is confident using MS Office and Google Maps to join our Manchester team. Manchester has a strong sense of community and an abundance of volunteering opportunities to help impact positive change - though such opportunities can be difficult to find. You will be designing and creating a one-stop map of all opportunities, RSPB and beyond, and updating it as necessary. This has the potential to facilitate a greater uptake in volunteering, helping both volunteers and groups to achieve positive conservation actions. You will: - Design and create a map of conservation volunteering opportunities in Greater Manchester using Google Maps (or any platform that can be easily accessed and shared by potential volunteers) - Regularly maintain and update the map, e.g. adding and removing opportunities as necessary - Liaise with Manchester team, other organisations and community groups to identify new volunteering opportunities, e.g. the Manchester Community Project Officer, Manchester Community Campaigns Volunteer, Manchester Social Media Volunteer, City of Trees, TCV, LWT, Friends of groups

The skills you need

We can provide a full induction to introduce you to local RSPB campaigns. We are looking for someone tech-savvy and enthusiastic, so you will need: - Good organisational skills - Good communication skills - Confident using Google Docs Editors Suite (Google Maps), MS Office, or similar platforms to design and create a map - Enthusiastic - Attention to detail

Your time

Initially 1 day per week for set up, then 1 day per month
All year round

What's in it for you?

This role will suit someone who wants to be part of the movement to Save Nature Through People in Greater Manchester. You will get to learn about lots of fantastic volunteering opportunities, and, indirectly through the map, recruit volunteers. You will learn about how a large charity works and make connections with the team in Manchester, with the opportunity to build a network of external connections and gain new skills, too.

If you want to know more about the role, please do get in touch. We can arrange an informal chat to discuss further and answer any queries you may have. Like nature, our survival depends on diversity Diversity is a core part of the RSPB's work and beliefs, now more than ever. A diverse workforce is a strong, motivated and happy one, and given how volunteers make up most of the workforce, having diversity at the centre of volunteering is vital. A key aspect to this is the recruitment stage of volunteering. We want the best talent to save nature, and we want to be fully committed to ensuring we become more representative of all communities, by being approachable, offering support to unlock potential, and judging only on merit.
