What we're looking for

We are facing a climate and biodiversity crisis, nature is in trouble, but we strongly believe that we can make a difference. The RSPB began as a campaigning organisation and we have secured positive change on a whole host of issues, and now more than ever we need the support of as many people and communities who are willing to lobby government, write letters, share our campaign asks on social media platforms and take part in campaign actions. The next 6 months are critically important. The NI Assembly is considering introducing Climate Change and biodiversity legislation respectively and we need to put pressure on our local politicians to ensure that these new laws are fit for purpose. This will be the most important legislation that our Assembly has ever debated and voted on. We need campaigners to amplify our asks to politicians to step up and show leadership on climate and nature in the lead-up to COP 26 in November and beyond. The role will involve promoting key RSPB and climate messages within your existing networks including your family and friends, social media groups, a university or school group, or any other community networks. You can choose how you want to help. Tasks may include sharing information on social media and other web platforms, lobbying decision makers and leading local community events. The role is flexible to your interests, skills and time availability. You can make the role you own. We want to speak to you if you are willing and determined to play your part in generating support for solving the nature and climate emergency in Northern Ireland.

The skills you need

Are you passionate about protecting nature and the environment we all live, work and play in? Do you want to influence and motivate others? Then please get in touch. This might be your first step into campaigning, you might already be a social media influencer, or part of a local community, university or school group. Whatever your experience, we need you! You will be: • Passionate about climate and nature • Able to motivate and influence others • Able to communicate with others clearly and concisely • Organised and pro-active • Able to collaborate with a team • Self-motivated and determined

Notes

The RSPB is the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and wildlife, helping to create a better world for all of us. We belong to BirdLife International, the global partnership of bird conservation organisations. Like nature, our survival depends on diversity. ?Nature has no borders and neither do we. ? We believe that nature is everybody's right and being an equal, diverse organisation is the right thing to do to find solutions to our common challenges. We recognise the value of difference and want all volunteers to feel welcome, included and able to be themselves. We are open to discussion about any adjustments you may need to volunteer. Your time and skills could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB and it would be great if you could join us. Appropriate training will be provided and expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary.
