Walk around Woodoaks Farm, Maple Cross

Location: We meet at the very end of Long Lane, Mill End, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire at 10 am.

A gentle walk around Woodoaks Farm, looking at birds and other wildlife. This walk is usually good for raptors and typical farmland birds. This walk is held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, twelve months of the year. We are a friendly group who enjoy birding and good company and newcomers and beginners are very welcome. There is no charge to join us and there are no membership requirements.

Birding at RSPB Otmoor near Oxford

Location: Meet in the RSPB reserve car park, at the end of the lane that runs north from the village of Beckley near Oxford. Grid Ref SP 569 126 (O.S. Map 164). The nearest postcode is OX3 9TD - don't turn into the farm; continue to the end of the lane.

Join us to see which birds are around on this fabulous RSPB reserve. This is an afternoon/evening visit to Otmoor - primarily to watch the starling murmurations at dusk. It is a fabulous reserve, nearly always yielding uncommon or unusual birds. The site is usually good for raptors such as kestrel, sparrowhawk, merlin, peregrine, buzzard, marsh harrier, hen harrier, barn owl and short-eared owl. It may be a bit early for the winter specials - fieldfare, redwing, bittern, golden plover and lapwing - but you never know!
