Communications Assistant - Norwich

Eastern England Regional Office

Why we want you

By 2020 we aim to inspire a world richer in nature. We have ambitious plans to double our membership and engage millions in taking big and small steps to support wildlife. To achieve this, promoting our nature reserves and communicating what we do in the region, both internally and externally, is crucial. This makes for a busy communications team here in the East and we could really do with a spare pair of hands!

What’s in it for you?

You will be joining a friendly communications team based in Norwich and will be one of over 2,500 volunteers helping us here in the region. Whether you'd like to meet new people, help us to protect wildlife in the East, get Europe's largest conservation organisation on your CV or develop your skills working in a busy communications department, this role is for you.

We will give you all the support you need to carry out tasks that will help us to monitor, evaluate and develop our communications work, including:

- monitoring and recording RSPB media coverage in the region
- helping to keep regional web page content up-to-date
- evaluating and reporting on social media activity
- collating and evaluating visitor data from our nature reserves
- ensuring our media contacts database is kept up-to-date
- assisting with creating content for social media and blogs

This role would be ideal for anyone wishing to gain communications or media experience.

The skills you need

We are looking for someone friendly, committed and reliable, who is adept at communicating in person and over email to a variety of audiences and open to learning new skills.

You will need to to have basic experience of using Microsoft software including Word and Excel, social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and be willing to learn the ropes on other pieces of simple software.
