Parking is not free to non-members, however, it is included in the reserve fee. Open daily. 55 spaces. 4 Blue Badge space. The steep slope at the entrance can be difficult in winter conditions.
Please be respectful of other visitor access, our team and our neighbours by not parking on the road, verges or in gateways, as it causes an obstruction for residents and emergency services.
No lighting in car park. No height restriction barrier. Bicycle racks available. Coaches are not advised.
Open daily, 6am-6pm. Unisex accessible toilet with non-slip flooring.
The level, surfaced paths up to the sea bank, and alongside the grassland, makes Freiston Shore the perfect place for a stroll in nature with a pushchair.
Trails to both hides and the reservoir viewpoint have a firm surface. RADAR key required for kissing gates. There is a short gentle slope on the way to the Sunk hide and the reservoir screen. Steps and gentle slopes, grass paths and uneven ground on other paths.
There are two unisex toilets, open daily 6am – 6pm
Our hides and viewpoints are a great place to spot the special wildlife here and offer outstanding views over Freiston Shore.
Our car park and benches also overlook saline lagoon.
Two wheelchair accessible hides, one with a unique waterlevel view of the saline lagoon. Additionally a covered viewing screen overlooking the freshwater reservoir
We have three trails to help you explore the landscape and the wildlife that calls it home.
The North Lagoon trail is 1 mile/1.7km long with 3 kissing gates and 3 short slopes. The trail gives elevated views of the managed realignment, saltwater lagoon, and passes by the North Lagoon hide and raised viewpoint overlooking South Lagoon.
The South Lagoon Trail is 1.3 miles or 2.7km long, and a mixture of concrete track, stoned path and grassy path. There are 5 kissing gates and 3 short slopes. This trail goes past both hides, the viewing screen and the raised viewpoint. Both saline lagoons, saltmarsh and wet grassland are seen from this trail.
The Pilgrims Trail is 3 miles, 5km long. It is a mixture of concrete track, stoned path and grassy path, with 4 kissing gates, 2 short slopes and a set of steps. Both saline lagoons, saltmarsh and wet grassland are seen from this trail. Please note cows graze the seabanks between April and November and may be encountered on all trails.
Picnic tables may be found at the rear of The Sunk, sorry no dogs in this area.

BBQs are a fire risk, endangering other people and the precious wildlife and habitats here. They are not permitted on the reserve at any time.

There is no visitor centre at this reserve.
We don’t have any refreshments available to purchase here. You are welcome to bring a picnic with you to enjoy on your visit.
Restrictions
Dogs are welcome on most reserve trails, but are not permitted in the hides or on the paths to the Sunk or the reservoir viewpoint. Please keep your dog on a lead and under close, effective control at all times.
Assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of the reserve.
