Further car parking is available at the side of the road at Waulkmill Bay. No height restrictions. No lighting.
There is a picnic bench halfway around the trail but this is not wheelchair or pram accessible.
2 mile (3.2km) circular waymarked trail. Trails go to Scapa Flow and Waukmill Bay. The track is very rough and often wet and muddy with steep incline up a peat bank. Stile at Waulkmill Bay entrance.

BBQs are a fire risk, endangering other people and the precious wildlife and habitats here. They are not permitted on the reserve at any time.
There are no formal viewing points here. As there is nowhere to shelter, we recommend you dress appropriately for the weather.
A variety of birds can be seen from the car park and from the track leading from the car park into the reserve.
There is no visitor centre here and this reserve does not have any staff on site.
There is no cafe or shop here, the nearest place for food and drinks is in Kirkwall around three miles away. We recommend you bring your own food and drinks if this is likely to affect your visit.
Restrictions
RSPB Scotland welcomes responsible access, in line with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. During the ground-nesting bird breeding season (1 April to 15 August) and in areas with livestock, we would ask that you keep your dog on a short lead and clean up after them.
Assistance dogs are welcome in all parts of the reserve.
