Loch Druidibeg

Take a walk on the wild side and explore the rolling moorland of Loch Druidibeg. Sweeping views across the loch and hills beyond highlight a wonderful array of habitats. There’s everything from freshwater loch, through to bog and moorland, with small patches of woodland mixed in between the peat. This rich pathwork of a landscape is home to Hen Harriers, who lay eggs in the heather, Skylarks, who perform dazzling display flights, wintering Whooper Swans, who glide on the loch, and Merlins who soar overhead.

The wider Loch Druidibeg area has been managed by crofters for peat cutting and grazing animals. We’re working with crofters and landowners to benefit the diverse range of wildlife that calls the reserve home, all the way from insect-eating plants to the mighty Sea Eagle.
