Saltholme is 10 minutes from the A19. From the north: Turn East off the A19 north of Stockton along the A689.
From the north: Take the A689 exit off the A19 towards Hartlepool. At the roundabout, take the A1185; after 4 miles turn right at the roundabout onto the A178. The reserve entrance is 250 metres on the right-hand side.
From the south: Take the A1046 exit off the A19 towards Haverton Hill. Continue along the A1046 through Port Clarence, then turn left onto the A178 for Seaton Carew. After 1 mile turn left into the reserve.
There is no access to Saltholme via the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge at this time. Ignore SatNav instructions that include crossing the Transporter Bridge.
The nearest bus stop is outside the entrance to Saltholme, on the Seaton Carew Rd.
The Number 1 stops here and is run by stagecoach in Hartlepool.
The nearest railway station is in Middlesbrough, with trains from York, Whitby, Newcastle and Leeds.
The connecting bus service to Saltholme is the number 1 from Middlesbrough (towards Hartlepool, High Tunstall).
Saltholme is connected to the extensive network of cycleways around Stockton and Middlesbrough. There is a cycle track across the reserve to the visitor centre that is accessed through Port Clarence and is open during reserve opening hours.
