The main activities of the group are birdwatching field visits and indoor talks on topics of wildlife interest. Indoor meetings usually take place on the second Tuesday of each month.
Field trips take place on Sundays and midweek and are suitable for all ages whether you are an experienced birder or just learning. Our friendly group will help you get the most out of the outings. We also produce a newsletter twice yearly. Our fundraising efforts have been very successful over the years and we like to support local projects such as the RSPB Loch of Strathbeg reserve. If you would like more information about the group, please check out our website..
Admission is FREE to indoor meetings with a charge of £1.00 for tea or coffee and home baking.

The Ashfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers group is called Ashplorers and was launched in February 2010. The group's name was chosen in a competition run by the group.
Most of our outdoor meetings are held at Brierley Forest Park, Huthwaite although we do also visit other local places that are rich in wildlife. Activities have included orienteering, making fatball feeders for birds using logs and pine cones, quizzes, fun educational games. The group also goes birdwatching, goes on moth & butterfly hunts, pond dipping, investigates owl pellets, and is now building a wildlife garden. Children under 8 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times..
