What we're looking for

We require an enthusiastic volunteer warden to help in the areas of habitat management and reserve maintenance of Aylesbeare Common, tasks that are vital to the conservation and improvement of this special site! You will assist the team on the reserve with a range of tasks such as: • Fencing and gate repairs • Strimming • Track maintenance • Wildlife surveys, along with completing infrastructure surveys and feeding back any issues to the central team.

The skills you need

The ability to work independently and proactively is essential. You must be physically fit and healthy, and willing to get stuck in to a range of practical tasks. Full driving licence required. Some DIY, basic outdoor skills or knowledge of machinery would be advantageous, although full training will be given. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills is essential!

You will gain a valuable insight into the workings of RSPB, and be involved with our vision for the reserve, which is to maximise the biodiversity of the marshes and provide visitors with a great wildlife experience. You will have the chance to learn new skills, gain experience and be a part of a lively and fun reserve team, as well as make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation. You have the opportunity to input into the running of the site and expand the impact we have. You will also gain invaluable experience in the sector which will help towards any long term career plans in conservation.
