Youth Partnerships

Together, we’re helping young people discover their love of nature.

Working alongside youth organisations, we’re giving the next generation the tools, inspiration and support to improve their wellbeing and take action for nature. We help young people find their voice and make a positive difference for the natural world and their communities – using their time, voice and choice for nature.

Young people’s attitude to nature

Young people care about the world around them, and it really shows. The Children’s People and Nature Survey found that 83% of young people aged 8-15 say looking after the environment matters to them, and that they wanted to do more to help. For 87%, spending time in nature makes them happy, though for 27%, nature still feels out of reach.

The Girlguiding ‘Girls’ Attitudes Survey’ backs this up, showing similar results:

  • 51% of girls aged 7-10 are worried about the loss of nature and animal habitats (2024).
  • 28% of girls feel hopeful that people are talking about nature loss and trying to help, down from 38% (2024).
  • 80% of girls and young women aged 7-21 agree that being outdoors in nature helps them feel happy (2025).
  • 72% say they want more opportunities to be outdoors and in nature (2025).
  • 58% of girls aged 11-16 worry about climate change and threats to the environment some or all the time (2023).

This is why partnerships like ours matter so much. By working alongside youth organisations, we can help even more young people grow their love of nature, and give them ways to take meaningful action for nature.

Working together for nature and climate

A youth-led toolkit for nature and climate action

Young people are passionate about the world around them. Their ideas and actions can make a real difference, whether it’s helping wildlife, improving a local green space, raising awareness of environmental issues or supporting conservation projects further afield. Our toolkit is here to help youth group leaders and youth workers encourage, support and empower young people to discover what matters to them, plan how they take action and create the change they want to see.

The Action Planning Pack walks you through every step, from choosing your cause and working out where you can make the biggest difference, to planning, taking action and celebrating your successes along the way. There’s also the Project Inspiration Pack which shares ideas from previous nature conservation projects, campaigns, fundraising events and outreach activities. And the Tools and Templates Pack gives you everything you need to plan, deliver, and track your project’s progress.

Nature Explorers Challenge Pack

Everything you need to start exploring the world right outside your door, designed to help  young people discover their own love of the natural world. This pack was created by the RSPB Nature Steering Group, a group of Girlguiding members aged 16-25 who are passionate about protecting the environment and helping young people connect with nature.

This pack is suitable for any group of young people, led by a youth leader or worker. Any youth group can order badges.

Activity badge packs

Together with Girlguiding, we’ve developed a range of activity badge packs to help leaders bring more nature into their units’ weekly programmes.
