About Celebration Woods

RSPB Celebration Woods are special places to spend a while with your memories and commemorate a loved one by creating a living, lasting tribute to them - whether that's by interring ashes under your tree or choosing a species of tree that will support your loved one's favourite wildlife for years to come.

There are currently two Celebration Woods on our RSPB reserves - one in the Peak District and another in the Lake District. Both are peaceful settings that, with time, will only become more beautiful.

How does it work?

  • Decide between our two Celebration Woods - more information on both sites can be found below.
  • Donate online or over the phone.
  • Choose from a selection of native trees.
  • You will be offered two locally-crafted leaf-shaped ceramic markers inscribed with a short message of your choosing. One stays with the tree; the other is yours to keep.
  • If you are unable to attend the planting, we'll send a photograph of your tree along with your second tree marker.

Dove Stone - Peak District National Park

Within the Peak District National Park, Dove Stone's Celebration Wood is on the edge of a reservoir and offers stunning views across the valley. As attractive to wildlife as it is to people, this is the perfect spot to sit and remember a loved one.

Haweswater - Lake District National Park

Haweswater's Celebration Wood lies adjacent to the mossy ancient woodland of Naddle Forest. This wild corner of the eastern Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a beautiful, peaceful place for quiet reflection and communion with nature.
