Haweswater Celebration Wood

About Celebration Wood

Haweswater's Celebration Wood lies adjacent to the mossy ancient woodland of Naddle Forest. This wild corner of the eastern Lake District National Park is a beautiful, peaceful place for quiet reflection and communion with nature. Home to red squirrels, badgers, pied flycatchers and a host of woodland birds, Haweswater’s woodlands teem with life.

By planting a tree in Celebration Wood, you’ll not only be helping to restore and expand this rich habitat, you’ll also be adding to Haweswater’s store of memories.

Which trees we plant

Our collection of beautiful, native trees include Sessile Oak, Alder, Willow, Holly, Rowan, Downy Birch, Aspen, Hawthorn, Juniper, Crab Apple and Bird Cherry.

We will guide you in choosing the tree that is right for you, and suited to your preferred planting location.

You will also have the opportunity to select a pair of personalised ceramic tree markers, beautifully hand crafted in the Lake District. One to hang upon your tree, another to keep at home with you.

Growing together

We're working with landowner United Utilities to protect Haweswater for future generations to enjoy, and to support wildlife now, and in the future. We call this shared vision, Wild Haweswater.

Celebration Wood is part of the Wild Haweswater journey, connecting the semi-ancient Atlantic Oakwood of Naddle Forest with new woodland corridors. Your tree will become a living, growing part of this rich landscape of woodland, wetland and meadow.

We're here to help

We will do all we can to make your planting day as special as possible. You are welcome to attend the planting, and watch in the tranquility of the wood, or have an involvement in the planting itself. If you are unable to attend the planting, our team can plant your chosen tree on your behalf.
